At first glance, the story seems overdone and redundant. If I were to have read only the first two chapters, I wouldn't have been interested. However, a few short chapters later and I've changed my mimd. The fact that both Anh and Emmitt are fleshed-out characters is a surprising - and refreshing -change of scenery. It does seem like a very interesting book, and I'm curious to read it.
