Ring of Solomon by Aden Polydoros is a fun story for kids who fantasize about having super-human powers to fight off monsters and save the world.
Our hero, Zach, never loses his wry sense of humor as he comes to terms with the challenges of his private world when he becomes disenchanted with the truth about what he thought he wanted. When he becomes unwittingly embroiled in an ancient quest to prevent an apocalypse from destroying the earth, he enlists the help of his best friend. Zach's little sister provides a perfect foil for his mission as he repeatedly tries to shield her from danger.
The author manages to create a compelling antagonist out of a frightening other-world demon, Ashmedai, who turns out to be surprisingly likeable in spite of his terrifying powers.
