Fun and adventurous!
This middle grade book is a fun, short, and full of action novel which will definitely keep the younger readers engaged! What I enjoyed about this book was the Jewish mythology that was incorporated in the story. I thought that was really interesting and loved the author’s choice to do something that for me was pretty unique. The story itself is about a young queer boy, his best friend, and a new found ally. What it kind of reminded me of was the concept of a quest and that made the story pretty enjoyable, kind of Percy Jackson reminiscent in a good, complimentary way. I enjoyed the characters and thought the author did a good job rounding them in such a short story. Ash for sure was my favorite, loved how the author made him almost childlike at his wonder of the human world, and I for sure chuckled a few times. Overall, this was a fun read for me, despite the younger intended audience.
