The Ring of Solomon follows Zach after he buys a magic ring from a flea market. Unknown to him, the rings comes with all kinds of cool perks like the ability to talk to animals, summoning Ashmedai the king of demons, and... being able to wake monsters to bring about the apocalypse. Zach has to work with Ash to stop Knights of the Apocalypse from destroying the world.

This book has everything you could want in a middle grade book with magic: talking to animals, an immortal demon king stuck in a child body, and a flaming sword.

The fights with the monsters which I expected to be climatic points where started and over with quickly. More details about the monsters and strategizing about how to deal with them would have been nice. Also... the author seemed oddly obsessed with a bad smelling tuna sandwich, it got mentioned so many times I was expecting something to come of it and it never did. It was just odd. Not enough to ruin the book but it certainly had me a bit puzzled.

Overall, I would recommend this book!
