Ring of Solomon by Aden Polydoros was such a quick and fun read! The main character is a queer Jewish boy who doesn’t quite fit in at school or with his extended family. But he has such a relatable personality, a big heart, and a humorous voice that he is sure to draw readers in.
I really appreciated the author’s inclusion of both Jewish and queer representation in this middle grade book that I know will appeal to kids of all sorts of backgrounds and identities. The story itself is so full of fast-paced action, humor, and layered and meaningful relationships of all kinds from parent-child, sibling, friendships, and crushes. Although the book is not written for a deep dive into any of these aspects that are present in there book, the author touches meaningfully upon them all and weaves them into a story that will have readers turning the pages and unable to put the book down until the very exciting end!
