There wasn't anything about this excerpt that I didn't absolutely love! The main character is a 12-year-old gay Jewish boy who finds a magical ring. I appreciated the fact that the author chose to portray a Jewish character who does not consider himself very religious, but who still identifies as Jewish. The pace of the excerpt was fantastic, and I enjoyed how I got to discover the rings powers along with Zach. The third chapter ended on an intriguing cliffhanger, and I'm certainly interested in reading the rest of this book!
