I’m always on the lookout for new middle grade—there are a lot of authors writing great books, and I like to keep an eye out for books for my kids, but this one didn’t draw me in. The cover brings me back to those of 80s and 90s fantasy, and the main characters were fun, but I’m not really a fan of talking animals and the adults all sound judgmental and angry.
