This book was a well written, well developed , engaging story. I found myself immersed in the time periods along with the characters. Feeling their emotions and their fears. Hoping with them and cheering them on. I look forward to reading hopefully more stories from this author. I liked having the contrasting "now" story along with the "back " story. I dont go to the paranormal type stories as a first choice for something to read but i greatly enjoyed this book. The history of the slavery period and the vodun practices seemed to me well developed and believable and made the book much more interesting to me. I genuinely hope to be able to read more from this author very soon. I did receive an advance copy of this book.
