Had this not been a Bookish First novel, I do not think that I would have given it a second glance. The synopsis is the weakest part of this First Look and I feel that it does not do the book any justice, nor do I think it will intrigue may readers and may deter some. This is incredibly unfortunate as in just the first two chapters I was hooked. The dialogue is not only believable but it progresses the story without the need for excessive description. This is a refreshing trait, especially for a book rooted in what appears will be a generational story of thrilling mysticism. Furthermore, the tempo of the chapters is quick, but thorough. Regardless of genre, one of the things I most appreciate in a writer is the ability to thoroughly express the theme of the chapter without being excessive. This author seems to have this talent and I look forward to reading this book in the near future.
