Looking at the beautiful cover, I was eager to read this excerpt. The writing is descriptive and realistic, but I had a hard time connecting to the story. I suppose it's partly due to the strange magic interwoven in the women's stories, though I usually enjoy a good fantasy and historical fiction. I'm not sure if I want to continue reading this book.
