I'd heard great things about this series and was looking forward to checking it out but this random five page introduction was an odd place to start. With no idea who the two lead characters are, we're left relying on subtext but neither that or the dialogue in this first impression managed to bring this one to life. Perhaps I'd have a different reaction if I started at page one... then again, if this is indeed page one, I only hope it gets better!
