Queenie is one of the best books I have read so far this year. From the break-up that she wasn't sure actually was a break-up to all of her missteps while trying to process what was happening in her life, I connected with her in a deeply heartfelt way. She can't seem to focus at work and almost loses her job, her family is on her back constantly although she is estranged from her mom, she just recently found out she had a miscarriage that her ex did not know about, and without realizing it, she has been having an affair with one of her best friend's boyfriend. Queenie is forced to hit rock bottom before she finally begins to see that if she wants to move forward, she needs to let go of the past and fix herself. I instantly connected with Queenie on an emotional level and could easily see myself in her shoes. I could only hope I would be able to see the reality as she did and make the changes needed to better myself as she did. Queenie was simply wonderful.
