I've been seeing a lot of buzz for this book and now I can see just why. Queenie is a full of life character who leaps off the page. The opening made me smile, a situation all women find themselves in, uncomfortably making chit chat with their gynecologist while their hand is inside you. I loved Queenie's interaction with her aunt, that forced politeness with family that is completely underlined with love. It took me a bit to realize the story was flashing back and forth between the past and present, but once I did I was intrigued, wanting to know more about Queenie and Tom's relationship. Where did it go wrong and whose fault was it? The writing is excellent, as well, definitely reminds me of Bridget Jones' Diary, like it has been promoted.
