the cover of the book looks like any one of my braided hairstyles, so naturally i wanted to read it because it featured a black woman, like myself, on the front. my take on the book so far is that Queenie's relationship is ending because she is a victim of her own demise. she doesn't share her feelings and thoughts enough with her white boyfriend maybe because 1) she doesn't think he'll be able to relate being that he is a white man and 2) us women of african descent, being american or british(jamaican, west indian, or any of the many other african ethnicities that reside in England) don't readily share our "personals". it seems to be and easy read and is written in a language i can relate to, even if the author is from across the pond. i am very interested in reading this book to see and experience life and relationships from an "afro-britain" sista's perspective.
