“Queenie” sounds like a book that I am really going to be able to relate to and love! I’ve been wanting to read this book since the beginning of the year when my Booktube friends began publishing their “Most Anticipated 2019 New Releases.”

While I have not gone through the trials and tribulations of racial inequality —many of my friends and family have...with mixed children, bi-racial significant others, cultural stereotypes in the workplace...you name it! It’s 2019 and people still can’t seem to cast their judgments aside! Everyone is equal! What the heck is wrong with society!?

I can identify with the main character in being young and not having any idea what I want to do with my life, I also worked at two different newspapers in my 20’s AND I’ve had my share of toxic relationships.

Many of my favorite characters have suffered at the hands of ignorance including Starr Cater in Angie Thomas’s “ The Hate You Give,” Alexa Monroe from “ The Wedding Date” by Jasmine Guillery and of course—John Coffey in Stephen King’s “The Green Mile.”

This is a perfect time for “Queenie” to come out since February is Black History month. I will be reading two others in honor of this: an oldie “Black Boy” by Richard Wright and a newbie,” On The Come Up” from Angie Thomas. I’d be honored to add this to my list to read and review! This MUST be great if Jojo Moyes blurbed it...the “ Me Before you” movie and book trilogy are among my favorites to date!
