As a teacher I constantly try to step outside of my comfort zone. I am a straight, middle-aged, white woman trying to sometimes understand gay, bi, trans, black teen boys. In other words, I need to read about and from other perspectives as much as I can. That is what got my attention first. Queenie is the minority dating the white man. After reading a little more I wanted to know Queenie a little more. Really looking forward to reading it first then hopefully adding it to my bookshelf for my students.
