I'd heard about Queenie before reading the excerpt, and I'm even more excited to read the book now. The premise of a 25-year-old Jamaican British woman living in London sounds right up my alley, especially with the comparison to Bridget Jones' Diary. I admit, I was expecting the book to start off more lighthearted but it starts off right in the middle of a difficult time for Queenie. I really liked the bakery scene and that moment of realization and sadness that community is being sacrificed because of capitalism. I love the cover and the bright color is so eye-catching.
