From the moment that I heard about this book I was completely excited. When I found out the book was described as Bridget Jone's Diary meets Americanah I literally almost cried. I love Bridget Jone's Diary and on top of that I love Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. So my first impressions of the book was me crying and screaming because this book is not only filled with things that I love to read about, but it also displays history, culture, politics, and the conflicts of race, which occurs in the real world. Queenie is a girl that I feel that I can relate to and I am so excited to get to know her and read more about her. But also the book cover blows my mind because I love the color choice and the way the main character in this book is represented. The orange cover of the book not only displays a great picture of Queenie, but I love the fact that it displays Queenie as a character who embraces her culture and where she comes from. The cover alone just makes me want to read it even more.
