Wow. From the first sentences of this book I felt immediately invested in Queenie as a main character--I care about her well-being, about her friendships, about her relationship with Tom, and about her family. For an author to accomplish this so well is impressive! I also appreciate how this book has, in the first few pages, already begun to address issues like interracial relationships, women's health, immigration, and gentrification.
I look forward to reading the rest of this book--it is certainly one of my most anticipated reads this year!
