There was almost something surreal about this. I'm not too familiar with memoirs, but I've read a few. And there was something so jarring about the first line. It yanked me out of the present and into a person's past as this conversation starts to build around basketball. While it feels as if I'm digging through threads of surrealness, a reality starts to drip in and left me wanting more.
