As this excerpt begins, the main character is flirting with a guy in a bar who just assumes he plays basketball because he is a Black man. This is hard on him because he’s always felt insecure about not being athletic enough but he goes along with it, only to get caught. This excerpt shows some of his insecurities while he’s trying to do thing he thinks he’s supposed to do and trying so hard to do things the way he thinks he’s supposed to.he seems like a nice guy and I definitely felt bad thinking of people being unkind to him.
