This story is not only different or unique in the way all memoirs are - everyone's life is different, every experience different and it's great to see them written out so others can either relate, see themselves, or understand when they cannot empathize otherwise. However, the way it's written is too ... much for me? Too much too fast. I like to be eased into a story and this book does none of that. It's not supposed to, maybe the shock is exactly what the author is going for, but it's not how I like to approach stories like this. For me, it's probably a book I'll pass on but I can see others really and truly loving this.
