Princess of Souls is a Rapunzel-inspired YA fantasy romance about a teen witch names Selestra who has been groomed to steal souls for an immortal king. Following in the footsteps of her mother, she will become the next Somniatis Witch (the king’s witch) who fortells death. Those who are able to outrun their fate are given the chance to steal the king’s immortality. When Selestra touches Nox to read his fate, she sees that her destiny is entwined with his and they must work together to bring down a corrupt king. Now, I was already very excited about this book based on the Rapunzel comparison and the promise of an enemies to lovers trope, but the story line involving fates and witches really sealed the deal for me! I’m happy to report that the author did a fantastic job at bringing this fantasy world to life and keeping the Rapunzel inspirations subtle. The romance in this book was definitely slow burn and full of tension and angst. Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced with great world-building!
