Any book that has magic and witches in it instantly goes on my list of must-reads. This book is no different. I also love that there is a map of the six isles included, I always go back to maps to help me get a clear visual in my head as I read the story.
I was drawn in even more when I noticed that the first chapter was the characters name, indicating that it was from her point of view, and then a couple of chapters later it changed to another character’s point of view. I really enjoy reading stories that have two or more points of view; it’s always interesting to see how different people see the same scenario.
I do have a lot of questions, one being: why did the king let Selestia touch Nox? It seemed strange since she wasn’t allowed to touch anyone else and because she has to wear gloves to block her magic it seems. I’m hoping that the rest of the book will at some point explain that.
The cover of the book is definitely one I would be drawn to in a bookstore without even knowing what it was about first. The colors pop and draw the attention of the eye. And, after reading the first look, it helps me visualize even more what Selestia looks like, as I assume that’s the girl on the cover.
The way the first look left off was definitely a cliffhanger and I am itching to know what happens next. Does Selestia lie about what she saw? Does her mother somehow see it herself? What will happen to Selestia if they find out she was in the vision?
This is a great young adult fantasy book, which is definitely a genre I’m drawn too, and I can’t wait to read the rest!
