I’m a sucker for a book with a map in it, so I was very much pleased when I opened up this first look and found the map. The book, right from the start, does a good job at introducing you to the world without sounding too info-dumpy. Instead, you’re introduced to the world as Selestra details her thought process of the Festival of Predictions and her imprisonment (perhaps just life) in the castle. Additionally you understand why she does what she does for the king, and then a few chapters later you understand the same for Nox. This book is intriguing to me, and I can’t wait to read the whole story of two people unhappy with their current lives and with their fates tied together.
