So I understand that the author is writing this from a standpoint of wanting everyone to embrace their best selves, which I can get behind. However, it does seem that the premise of beauty being "to establish and demand new norms" by those who have it also highlights one big flaw in our society which is that those born without the magical concoction of fantastic DNA often struggle to find a place in society. I appreciate the author's guidance in beauty applications throughout history and how those were used to highlight features and can be used now to do the same. However, I think this just strikes at a bigger issue for me that isn't so much being addressed. But I think its more a me thing than a this book thing.
