I liked the idea of a book about teenage self realization and the constraints of societal misogyny and hope that the plot develops into something more than a complaining straight white girl. I found the author’s teenage voice slightly off and the tone is too preachy. There was too much description thrown at the reader, as though we lack intelligence, which interfered with the unfolding of the story. I do hope that teenagers will be able to relate to this story, but I’m afraid it’s too much of a cautionary tale trying hard to be relatable.
