This story is very emotional and heartwarming. After reading the excerpt, I was instantly hooked. I love how relatable the main character, Jo, is and how she develops as the story progresses. The fact that Jo is called a "practice girl" by a couple of boys at her school really hurts her and changes the way she views love and even herself. I love how this story is about Jo rejecting this label and choosing to love herself for who she is. This story has a very positive message and allows young girls to realize their true worth, and how much they mean to others. The cover is also great; I really like how the word "practice girl" is crossed out, which emphasizes the message of the novel and Jo's ultimate rejection of this label.
