Heather Graham is one of my favorite authors. She is masterful at creating suspenseful and romantic stories. This chapter glimpse of Out of the Darkness has me wanting to read more. It is set up at a haunted house outing ten years prior to the story. There are six friends that have won tickets to this Haunted Hysteria, a string of haunted houses. Davey has Down's Syndrome. Davey seems to believe one of the houses isn't just haunted. It's evil. With this set-up, I feel that the plot is already beginning to thicken. Already, with the first chapter, Graham has set up a great opening to what lies ahead and to make readers want more! Her character development is already deep and will continue to grow as the story progresses.
