Too bad this book doesn't come out until January- it seems like a perfect October read from the excerpt! The sense of foreboding is so strong in this chapter- readers will know right away that something evil is coming. The setting is vividly described, and there is a decent start to characters as well. If the rest of the story is as good as the excerpt, I think the cover is doing the book a disservice as it isn't as spooky as the excerpt suggests the book is.
