I'm all for teens doing amazing things with their brains, and Our Last Echoes fit that bill. It's like Stranger Things meets The Institute, except in a creepy bird world with weird "echoes" of humans. I read most of this in one sitting because it was unputdownable. There were some confusing parts, as well as some weird printing errors (seemed like a page or at least a line was missing from one section, plus a repeat sentence or two.)

I think this would do well as a movie or Netflix series; it is very action-oriented with different formatting than a traditional novel. I had a hard time imagining some of the scenes in my mind. I did not know there was a companion book previous to this one -- Rules for Vanishing -- which features some of the same characters. It's now on hold for me at the library. I can't wait to find out what happens next, because the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
