I always give a book 50 pages to get good, but this one was good from the start!
I love books that use newspaper stories, blog posts, websites, etc to add detail and history to the main story like this book seems to.
Sophia seems like an interesting, intriguing, and empathetic character. I can’t wait to read more of this to find out more about her, her mom, and Bitter Rock with its mysterious disappearances. Kind of gives me Stephen King’s Storm of the Century vibes. And that’s a compliment!
The cover is dark and foreboding with just a splash of color with the red boat. Gives a bit of a creepy vibe which seems to match the excerpt of the book very well.
Overall I am looking forward to reading more of this book!
