I adored this so much more than I even anticipated. From the description, I expected a sweet bisexual coming of age story and romance, but I got so much more. Ophelia and her friends and family are complex and she gets to be messy. Much of the book is her worrying about changing a key characteristic of how people see her. She's perceived by her family and friends as "boy-crazy," so how will they see her if they know she has a new, intense crush on a girl?

The romance is secondary to the main theme of Ophelia coming to terms with her full self. I loved her witty banter with her friends, the nuanced Latinx representations (loved the Cuban vs Mexican distinctions the main character runs into), complex parental relationships, multiple kinds of queer rep (even asexual representation!!) and an ending that focused much more on friendship than finding your true love in high school, which is so much more realistic and a narrative that is far less represented in YA! This book is a gem.
