This is an absolutely lovely, relatively low-stakes YA romance/coming-of-age story, and I'm staggered about how quickly author Racquel Marie roped me into this world and had me fully immersed, not wanting to come up for air until I'd read it all. I do enjoy YA romance every now and then, but rarely are they so immaculately written, pure FUN, and representationally fabulous that I have ZERO negative things to say, but that's certainly the case here with 'Ophelia After All.' From the understatedly beautiful cover to the well-rounded and witty characters, everything about this book is really a comforting-blanket of a break from reality (in some ways), while still maintaining realistic commentary on growing up, changing, and learning to embrace a sexuality you didn't realize might be yours to claim. There is indeed some challenged homophobia in here, but the main focus is on kindness, gentleness, and love--both budding romance and the fabulous friend group Ophelia has from the outset. I can't recommend this highly enough!!
