These characters, I swear, bring me life. They are messy, the are beautiful, they are everything. This is a character driven book and by the end of it all, I loved them all (esp Wes tho <3) (and Ophelia <33) (and all of them <333)
The friendship? Impeccable. I mean, yeah, it's messy, it's unpredictable, it's emotional as hell, but it is absolute perfection. I loved the big friend group dynamic and the inter workings of it all, esp w high school ending and prom thrown in there. Be warned though, this is a coming of age book centred around finding your identity and friendship, NOT a romance
My only qualm with this one, is just some minor writing things. There felt like there were some crutch phrases that popped up a lot and a whole bunch of semi colons that felt choppy and didn’t really work for me. It’s a super small thing, but it did stick out to me a bit.
Never fear though, the overall vibes of Ophelia After All is just, well, vibey. It gives Gen Z energy, has such sharp dialogue, and an incredibly fresh voice. I’m here for *all* of it. Def check this out out if you are looking for a fab coming of age story with strong themes of friendship!
