Not all YA books are the same. Some are more mature, some are very young. This is one of those where it is very young. It's harder to get engrossed in the type of YA where the wetting is in a highschool with gossip by the lockers. While it is a cute story that is meant to be impactful with Ophelia being queer, and coming out and being her true self, the dialogue and setting, just the writing in general, is too young for my taste.
