This type of book just is not my thing. Occasionally I can pick up a book like this, but it is very rare. From the first impression, the author writes pretty well though, and is able to establish characters pretty fast. It seems that they are going to have a large cast and it is mostly going to be focused on high school drama. I am intrigued by the roses though, it gave me vibes like from the book "Beastly".
