Gregory D. Williams is an amazing writer and Open Heartis one of the best books I have ever read. I love how the title of the book connects really well with its contents. Gene struggles with becoming a heart surgeon and understanding a breakup at the same time. Along the way he starts to understand how good of a doctor his dad really was and really starts to greave his death. This story is written beautifully with everything from explaining medical terminology and flashbacks of Genes childhood. As we journey along with this broke college student we learn the meanings of love and relationships. Helping out a friend and saving his girlfriend from drowning are two very different relationships Gene has to endure. I would definitely read this book more than once and recommend it to my friends who like romance and coming of age. Read this book to discover all of Genes secrets!
