When I first began reading the First Look for Open Heart I wasn't that interested, but that changed pretty quickly. The writer moves very seamlessly between graphic descriptions of open heart surgery (which I found fascinating) and the story of a budding romance between teenagers. This was a long First Look but I was intrigued and would be interested in reading the rest of the novel.
