At first I was a little leery about this book whether or not it was for me but as I read further on I really enjoyed how the story started playing out with Gene and his parents past by an accident in which a little girl gets hurt and so Gene's father, a doctor, tries to resuscitate her but to no avail. Then goes a little bit into Gene and Patty's romance and then starts talking about patty having to get heart surgery and she recovers from that and then also gene is trying to become a doctor and sits in on an open heart surgery in the OR but on the first attempt he faints. I would really love to learn more about these characters.
