The opening scenes with the family on vacation and driving through the heat. They see an accident and Gene’s doctor father runs to help. Tense moments. Flash forward nine years and Gene is in his last year of college and has an opportunity to shadow a doctor in the Heart Room. We find out Gene’s father died and Gene has a unique opportunity to shadow the surgeon. More tense moments in the operating room as Gene passes out while the surgical team prepares the patient. Then there is the love story. I felt like I was in the story observing everything that happens. Looking forward to reading this novel.
