In spite of the medical jargon in “open heart”, I thoroughly enjoyed the excerpt from this novel. Written by a doctor, I expected the writing style to be cumbersome and overwhelmingly technical with medical terminology. Instead I found a beautifully written love story with the medical profession as a compassionate and relatable backdrop. I enjoyed reading this excerpt and would very much like to read the rest of the novel.
