Ginny Myers Sain is the queen of atmosphere and story setting. Just like in Dark and Shallow Lies with Louisiana, One Last Breath fully immersed me in the hot, humid days and nights of Florida. I could feel the sweat beading on my skin. The summer was palpable, and the tension could have been cut with a knife.

The pacing was slow, building the intensity with each chapter. The characters were fleshed out, diving off the pages. The supernatural elements were breathtaking and strange in the best way possible. And, the story line was deep and gripping, washing me with mystery and emotion.

It was a quick, captivating read. It was dark, emotional, and unique. I loved the twists and turns of the ride. I loved the friendships, relationships, and connections felt, and made, between the characters, and I definitely didn't figure out the big reveal until it was almost too late. This one was super satisfying, just like I knew it would be!
