I love the mood of the cover and how it is simplistic yet dark feeling with the colors and shades. This book centers around a cold case murder of two best friends Bailey and Celeste 20 years ago. New girl Rio arrives into town and sets out on solving the cold case with Trulee in tow along for the crime solving ride! This YA thriller has murder, mystery, and throws in some supernatural elements to give a twist for a different kind of thrill ride!
I have been interested to read Ginny Myers Sain since I first seen Dark and Shallow Lies come out and read reviews that she has a different take on her writing making it multi-dimensional with mystery and paranormal intertwined. I don't mind the love interest romance going on between Rio and Tru but it doesn't seem to develop too much to really have a lot to it in my opinion, it seems more like a thrill turned romance thing. The book wasn't bad I enjoyed it. It was an easy to read storyline and interesting enough to keep my attention. I would give it a 3.5 rating. Thank you Bookishfirst and Razorbill for the copy to read and review with my own thoughts.
