Trulee is obsessed with the 20-year-old murder of two girls from her town. She dreams about them, imagines how they might have felt, and searches the campsite--their last known location. It's a strange compulsion considering that Tru's own sister is dead. Her other obsession is free diving. It's a way to beat the FL heat & humidity. One dive ends in near-tragedy and a hallucination. Meeting a stranger, Rio, at the campsite adds to the mystery. I don't know anything about free diving, so I hope to learn more about that after reading this book. As someone who watches true crime TV, I'm already invested in knowing who killed the girls, why Tru feels so connected to them, and more about her sister's death. The book's cover is moody and the title "One Last Breath" can refer to death, or the last breath before diving deep. I'm holding my breath!
