I remember getting the opportunity to read a sample of this book. From the first page...the first few sentences, I was mesmerized. I just absolutely loved the flow and charm of this story. I felt like I woke up and landed in the middle of an enchanting little English town with cottages, and shops, and quirky civilians, and local hole in the walls. Atmospheric...magical...unique in it's premise. Full of whimsy and mayhem...you are drawn in and you don't want to let go. You don't want to leave this strange little world and all it's inhabitants.
A little girl's lifeless body found in the Thames river. The villagers recover the body and take her to the local inn. Suddenly she awakens? comes back to life? who knows and who knows who she is. The mystery unfolds and when I tell you that it's the best part of the book....it is. All of it. Every single bit...all the way until the end. And then your sitting there thinking: So when is Diane Setterfield going to write yet another winner such as this?
