When I read a story to my kids, they have to be straightforward and not too many characters. If the story is too complicated, they get bored. That's what happened to me. According to the synopsis, I was expecting a story. When I started to read it, I was already confused with so many taverns, the story of the river, all the daughters and still no man carrying a lifeless body. The description of the man was so long that I thought that they forgot about the other body, the girl.
I am not attracted to books that take a lot of pages to get to the real story. There had been books than my friends tell me "wait until you get to page 150" and in my mind goes "why..."
The descriptions are too
verbose. I hope I don't need to get to page 150 to see the relevance of all the descriptions.
