I've been seeing Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield everywhere, starting with that absolutely gorgeous cover. I've heard mostly great things about it, especially how good the writing is. Unfortunately, this wasn't the book for me -- at least at this point in time. Mythical/magical realism isn't usually a genre I enjoy reading and I just couldn't find myself getting into the story as much as I'd have liked to. I'm sure it's a great book for some, just not for me.

The story begins at an ancient inn on the river Thames, where the travelers and locals love to tell elaborate stories. Then one night, a strangers shows up with a young girl's body in his arms. Hours later, the girls seems to come back to life.
