I was really looking forward to reading this book! I really loved the Thirteenth Tale, so I was excited to give another of Diane Setterfield's books a try. I loved the cover and the synopsis was so interesting: a mysterious girl pulled from the river in the middle of winter. Who is she? Where is she from? When multiple people claim to know who the child is, their reasons are mysterious and not as straightforward as they should be.
I love historical fiction, and I love a good mystery, and I thought this would be right up my alley. Unfortunately, this one fell really flat for me. I felt the writing style didn't really grab me and the book was very wordy. They mystery aspect of the book didn't really hold my attention. I guess for me, the Thirteenth Tale will remain my favorite of hers!
