This is my first impression of the first look sample. I love Diane Setterfield's first book, The Thirteenth Tale. When I saw she had a second book, I was thrilled! Once Upon A River starts at an inn on the Thames with a group of people sharing stories. When suddenly, a stranger burst in with a lifeless little girl. A couple hours later, she miraculously comes back to life. But no one knows who she belongs to, as three families claim her as their own. This book seems to have plot twists mixed with mystery and the question of science and magic. Her writing makes it so real that you can't stop reading and questioning to where she really belongs. I can't wait to get the book and start reading it!
